SEN Teaching Assistant | Chesterfield, S43 | 400-415 weekly take home | Long-term to perm | ASAP start

We are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a remarkable Alternative Provision school in the Chesterfield (S43) area for the duration of the academic year. This full-time role has the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students with additional needs, both individually and in small groups, both inside and outside the classroom. A solid understanding of various special educational needs such as ASD, ADHD, challenging behaviour, and developmental delays is essential. In return, the school offers comprehensive in-house training, CPD courses, and a supportive team environment. All candidates must hold a full driving license.

Key responsibilities include:

Providing support to students requiring additional assistance, both one-on-one and in small groups.

Assisting the class teacher by supporting your assigned child within the classroom.

Encouraging active engagement and participation among SEN pupils in lessons and the curriculum.

Assisting students with reading, writing, and their class assignments.

The ideal candidate will possess:

A relevant degree or equivalent qualification.

Previous experience working with children in a school setting is advantageous.

A strong understanding of Special Educational Needs.

Flexibility and the ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
