Role: Welder & Sheet Metal Fabricator
Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000
This is an excellent opportunity for a Welder & Sheet Metal Fabricator to join an established engineering business in Chesterfield.
This market leading company operates in a wide range of industries including aerospace, defence, automotive and transportation, employing over 4,500 people in 22 countries.
The Welder & Sheet Metal Fabricator will be responsible for the fabrication and manufacturing of mild steel capsules in simple shapes.
The role also involves the fabrication and manufacture of aluminium capsules for Al powder billets, TIG welding of encapsulation assemblies, and conducting leak testing and evacuation of encapsulated components prior to treatments.
Main responsibilities:
- The control and procurement of raw materials and workshop consumables
- Procurement and routine manufacture of encapsulation cans
- Fabrication of capsule end caps using plasma cutting equipment
- TIG welding of capsule and encapsulation assemblies
- Powder filling of capsules
- Leak testing of capsules using spray techniques and a helium leak detector
- Evacuation at room or at elevated temperatures of capsules containing powder and powder clad solid components
- Using handheld grinding equipment or plasma cutting techniques
- General maintenance and servicing of vacuum equipment and welding / fabrication equipment
- Co-ordination and supervision of subcontract operations
- Packing of goods for despatch and general driving duties on attainment of a full driving licence
Qualifications, experience and skills:
- practical experience in a welding and sheet metal working
- Full driving licence
- Welding and Sheet Metal Fabrication NVQ Level 1, 2 and 3 (Advantageous)
- Forklift Training certificate required for movement of goods and loading and unloading of ovens
- The efficient functioning and general housekeeping of the workshops
- First Aid certificate advantage but training can be provided
Salary / package:
- Pension - match contribution from 4% - 10%
