As a Principal Project Engineer - Signalling, you will play a key role in the design, construction, and commissioning of signalling projects. You'll ensure that all technical specifications are met, managing the integration of signalling systems with infrastructure and rolling stock while adhering to strict safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and management of technical specifications for signalling projects.
- Oversee the design, construction, and commissioning phases to ensure compliance with project scope, safety, and quality standards.
- Manage engineering interfaces across various disciplines, including signalling, rolling stock, and infrastructure.
- Lead the procurement process, managing resources for effective project delivery.
- Conduct design reviews, construction audits, and commissioning readiness checks.
- Ensure timely and within-budget project delivery while maintaining high standards of safety and regulatory compliance.
Essential Criteria
- Engineering Degree (Level 8) or equivalent with relevant railway or signalling experience.
- Proven experience in delivering signalling projects, from design through to testing and commissioning.
- Strong technical knowledge of signalling systems, processes, and relevant standards.
- Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- Strong ability to manage resources, timelines, and competing priorities.
- A safety-focused approach and knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements.
- Willingness to travel for project-related needs.
Desirable Criteria
- IRSE-licensed Project Engineer or equivalent.
- Membership in IRSE or a similar professional organisation.
