Field-Based Installation and Calibration Engineer

Location: Dublin, National Coverage

I’m working with a leading provider of cutting-edge machine control systems for the construction and heavy equipment industry. They are seeking a skilled Installation and Calibration Engineer to join their team, supporting the installation, maintenance, and service of advanced equipment across the UK.

 

This is a field-based role that involves national travel, with occasional overnight stays.

 

This role would suit an electrically biased plant fitter or a controls engineer familiar with the plant industry.

 

The Installation Engineer will be responsible for the installation of Trimble hardware, including accurately measuring the machine control systems on OEM (Trimble Earthworks, GSC900) dealer machines and customers construction equipment

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation & Calibration: Installing machine control systems on a range of construction equipment, including dozers, excavators, and graders.
  • Service & Support: Performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on equipment at customer sites.
  • Training: Providing operational training to end users, ensuring effective equipment use.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with team leaders to plan and deliver high-quality installations and services.
  • Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of installations and service activities.

 

Ideal Candidate

  • Proficient in AutoCAD or similar systems.
  • Background in mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic engineering (vocational qualification preferred).
  • Familiarity with construction equipment and site operations is an advantage.
  • Experience in diagnosing hydraulic and electrical issues on heavy machinery.
  • Strong understanding of safety standards (e.g., IOSH, CSCS certification).
  • Basic IT skills, including MS Office and digital tools for technical research.
