Chief Engineer - M&E

Location: Dublin (on site)

The Chief Engineer - M&E Services will take charge of the seamless operation of cutting-edge mechanical and electrical systems for a hyperscale data centre. This pivotal role combines leadership, innovation, and technical expertise to oversee and optimize M&E operations, maintenance, and energy management. You'll have the opportunity to shape the future of mission-critical infrastructure, drive operational excellence, and mentor a talented team while managing a state-of-the-art facility or portfolio.

Reporting to the Data Centre Manager, this full-time, permanent role offers a competitive remuneration package.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Manage M&E services maintenance and assist with OpEx and CapEx budgets.
  • Supervise technical staff, including direct employees and external contractors.
  • Act as SME for M&E services operations.
  • Oversee operational procedures and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Coordinate with project teams on commissioning and readiness.
  • Champion health and safety, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and legislation.
  • Maintain accuracy of safety files, drawing registers, and operational documents.
  • Respond to emergencies and customer concerns.
  • Administer inventory control for parts and supplies.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in the data centre industry.
  • Time-served mechanical/electrical apprenticeship or a relevant Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience with data centre start-up and commissioning is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of critical M&E system infrastructure.
  • Proven track record in managing M&E services, either directly or through third-party providers.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, safety files, and operational manuals.
  • Excellent team player and communicator, with experience reporting to key stakeholders
