About the role:

As the Operations Director for our Dudley site, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the whole Production Operations of the site; from supply chain to production to outbound logistics. You will ensure the production runs smoothly to ensure customer orders are fulfilled on time and financial commitments are met in line with budgets.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the production is lean and efficient to fulfil customer orders on time
  • Lead, manage, and mentor cross-functional teams, including operations, production, logistics, customer service, and support teams.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and performance excellence throughout the operations department.
  • Oversee and optimise day-to-day operational activities, including production schedules, resource allocation, inventory control, and cost management.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for cost-saving improvements.
  • Implement best practices, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and Lean or Six Sigma methodologies to improve operational performance.
  • Ensure there are robust production plans in place to meet demands.
  • Manage all overheads - from people to equipment with clear plans in place.
  • Control of inventories from cycle counting to stock investigations and adjustments. Ensure full compliance to management accounting and audit requitements
  • Manage site facilities and ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
  • Full control of QA and QC activities and ensure ISO compliance.
  • Manage Distribution to ensure products are shipped on time to relevant standards and requirements.
  • Ensure there is a clear people plan in place to drive efficiencies, monitor absence, non-productive time.
  • Provide management reports as required.

About you:

  • Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in operational management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven track record of managing complex production operations across multiple departments or locations.
  • Strong understanding of operations, supply chain management, production processes, and resource management.
  • Be a natural leader with proven experience of leading and managing a team
  • Familiarity with operational efficiency models, such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen.
  • Must have full knowledge of Production control, Inventory management and MRPII systems
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels
  • Excellent use of MS Office - Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint etc
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and a sense of urgency
