We are working with Tameside Council to find a Finance Officer on a temporary basis. Hourly rate: £20 per hour PAYE/24.97 per hour Umbrella. Location: Tameside One, Ashton-Under-Lyne Town CentreJob Type: Temporary (9-month secondment cover), Hybrid (once a week in the office, initially more frequent)We are seeking a Finance Officer to join our team on a temporary basis to cover a secondment. This role is ideal for someone with local authority experience, particularly in supporting engineering and town centre regeneration projects. The successful candidate will be part of an 8-person team, working closely with budget holders to manage both revenue and capital budgets effectively.Day-to-day of the role:-          Liaise with budget holders to provide financial support and advice, focusing on capital projects within engineering and town centre regeneration.-          Manage individual areas of financial responsibility alongside two other finance officers.-          Run reports from financial systems and ensure comfort with finance software, ideally Agresso.-          Handle Freedom of Information requests related to financial queries.-          Support the setting of budgets and monitor financial performance, suggesting improvements as needed.Required Skills & Qualifications:-          AAT qualification preferred; consideration given to candidates studying towards this.-          Experience in a finance role within a local authority or similar environment.-          Strong understanding of financial management related to engineering, highways management, and construction.-          Proficient in using financial systems, ideally Agresso.-          Ability to provide high-quality financial advice and manage multiple priorities effectively.-          Excellent organisational and analytical skills, with the capability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
