Day-to-day of the role:- Maintain and review the Information Governance Framework to ensure it is fit for purpose and aligns with business technology strategies and statutory requirements.
- Facilitate user understanding and adherence to the Information Governance Framework across the organisation.
- Coordinate and ensure compliance with requests under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Data Protection Act 2018.
- Provide advice, guidance, and interpretation on matters relating to Information Governance.
- Produce and monitor performance reports, escalating issues as necessary.
- Develop and update Information Governance content on the intranet and the Council’s website.
- Advise on risk management strategies to minimize information risks.
- Assist in conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments and periodic audits to ensure adherence to relevant legislation and policies.
- Build relationships with senior managers and partner organisations to ensure compliance with corporate policies.
- Organise and facilitate meetings for the Information Governance Group and Information Champions Group.
- Undertake investigations into Information Incidents, ensuring appropriate actions are taken.
- 5 GCSEs grade A-C including Mathematics and English Language (or equivalent).
- A Levels or equivalent in a relevant subject.
- Practitioner Certificate in an area of Information Governance or willingness to work towards one.
- Experience in handling data protection, freedom of information, or information governance issues.
- Understanding of information governance in a local government environment.
- Ability to manage multiple enquiries and tasks simultaneously in a timely manner.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software or equivalent.
- Strong organisational, planning, and communication skills.
