Social Worker Team ManagerTeam: Cared for ChildrenLocation: TamesideRate: £45

A Social Worker Team Manager is required for Tameside Children’s Services, Cared for Children Service.

The successful applicant will be managing up to 7 Social Workers who are allocated Cared for Children subject to Care Orders, or cared for under section 20 of the Children Act 1989. They will be expected to provide personal and child supervision, to offer support, advice and guidance to team members, to have oversight of practice and performance and to engage with the organisational priorities.

Tameside is currently on an improvement journey and applicants should have experience of managing a Cared for Children team and will be required to support the service in improving practice and delivering improved outcomes for children.

This is an exciting time for the service due to ongoing work being underway to achieve permanence for children, through reunification of cared for children with their parents, Special Guardianship Order applications and discharge of Care Orders.

The service is based at Ashton Old Library, Ashton-Under-Lyne. Staff are expected to be in the office 3 days per week.

  • DIPSW or equivalent qualification in Social Work
  • Social Work England registration
  • Enhanced and in date DBS certificate.
  • Excellent communication skills and be able to make good decisions based on information available.
  • Can work alone and within/contribute to a team/multi-agency set ups
  • Possess knowledge of service needs.
  • Competent IT skills and be able to navigate electronic file/recording systems.
  • Can write clear, concise, and robust assessment/reports/files.
  • Have a flexible approach to work and working hours when the need arises
