Our client, a leading operator of regional airports in the UK, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Operations Director to lead one of their busiest and fastest-growing airports. This is a unique opportunity to join a thriving aviation business at a time of significant expansion, ensuring the continued delivery of operational excellence and regulatory compliance.

The Opportunity:

As Operations Director, you will play a critical role in leading all airside operations, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency. Reporting to the senior leadership team, you will be responsible for maintaining high operational standards, engaging with key stakeholders, and driving strategic initiatives to support the airport's growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead all airside operations, ensuring full compliance with EASA regulations, the Air Navigation Order, and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) requirements.

  • Develop and implement strategies that uphold the highest levels of safety, operational efficiency, and customer service.

  • Act as the accountable manager for aerodrome certification and operational requirements.

  • Promote a safety-first culture, overseeing safety management systems and driving continuous improvement.

  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including airlines, regulatory authorities, local government, and community groups.

  • Oversee the operational budget, ensuring financial efficiency and achievement of performance targets.

  • Develop and motivate the operations team, fostering a culture of excellence and achievement.

  • Lead business continuity and contingency planning to ensure preparedness for operational disruptions or emergencies.

  • Contribute to strategic planning and the long-term development of the airport.

The Person:
  • Previous relevant experience within the aviation industry.

  • Proven track record of strategic leadership in a highly regulated, operational environment, ideally within the aviation sector.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of airport operations, safety management systems, and industry best practices.

  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management and driving operational efficiencies.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.

  • Strong leadership capabilities, with a focus on team development, motivation, and fostering a performance-driven culture.

  • Extensive experience managing compliance and safety standards in line with regulatory requirements.
