Business Development Manager Responsibilities:

  • Identify and generate new business opportunities, with a specific focus on SMEs.

  • Make pricing decisions in coordination with relevant stakeholders.

  • Prepare and submit quotations to customers promptly.

  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of Ocean Logistics products and trade.

  • Deliver presentations on core Ocean Logistics services to potential and existing clients.

  • Stay informed about market trends by monitoring competitor pricing and products.

  • Report customer complaints to the Customer service team for resolution.

  • Collaborate with Customer Service to ensure smooth onboarding of new customers.

  • Perform all necessary tasks and activities in the CRM system.

  • Regularly review customer portfolios with Customer Service Location Managers/teams.

  • Close deals and secure new business from customers.

  • Host internal visitors and facilitate meetings.

  • Attend customer events, exhibitions, and both internal and external meetings.

  • Participate in internal and external development activities, aligned with guidance from your line manager.

  • Effectively manage time and priorities, focusing on customer development and teamwork, while collaborating with product owners and trade managers to ensure the right balance of customer and team interaction.

  • Ensure all annual cyclical tasks are planned and completed within deadlines, delivering the expected outcomes.

  • Communicate proactively and timely, using the appropriate communication tools.

  • Continuously seek areas for improvement to increase efficiency and achieve better results.

Business Development Manager Requirements:

  • Proven B2B, face to face sales experience
  • Strong communication skills and proven record of sales success
  • Effective and proactive time management/ forward planning
  • Advanced experience as EDI and software user (e.g.MS Office, CRM System)
  • Vast knowledge of KN products and solutions (internal applicants)
  • Ability to build customer "value propositions"
  • Experience of working/managing existing Customer portfolios/pipeline
  • Experience of developing sales leads
  • Experience of working within a targeted new business environment
