We are working with a local authority who are looking for a Project Manager – Post-16 Education and SEND/Alternative Provision to join the Children’s Services team.

Location: Southwest based Authority 

Set-up: Remote with on-site presence travel/accommodation paid

Rate: £400-450/day, outside IR35

Duration: Initial 6-month contract

Hours: 2.5 days/week

The work will include:

  • Undertake a comprehensive ‘voice of the child/young person’ exercise, taking into account views and experiences of current Year 9, 10 and 11 young people and post-16 students (past and present) to inform the work of the project
  • Work with designated post-16 providers to become the council’s nominated providers for young people in the area
  • Strengthen the council’s information, advice and guidance offer for young people and their families through this period of transition
  • Develop a fully costed options appraisal/business case in respect of a supported accommodation offer for young people accessing their post-16 education
  • Work with providers to explore options delivering post-16 provision to give choice for those young people wishing to remain at home
  • Support DCS and CEO to develop bids/business cases to lobby the DfE/ESFA to increase current funding allowances
  • May be required to respond to other ad-hoc tasks related to the delivery of the Ofsted Improvement Plan while keeping a keen eye on delivery and quality outputs

Qualifications and Education:

  • Local Government experience required for initial shortlisting, thereafter at the clients discretion
  • Strong project management experience and relevant subject-matter knowledge gained through previous project management assignments in the areas of post-16 education and SEND/Alternative Provision
  • Competent in use of all MS Office applications
  • Candidate must be flexible, adaptable and willing to roll their sleeves up to progress the project
