Venn Group is pleased to be assisting a central government client, based in the South West, in its search for a dynamic Paralegal to join its in-house legal function on a permanent basis.

This is a full-time position, to start as soon as possible. The role will involve providing support for a broad range of legal matters relevant to the organisation’s functions and its internal corporate activities. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing support to the legal team, including thorough research and document reviews
  • Supporting the lawyers in formulating legal advice for the organisation
  • Working with legal administrators to support the legal team
  • Liaising with colleagues in other directorates as required
  • Working closely with lawyers in the team to deliver the objectives of the organisation
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders by developing and maintaining productive relationships
  • Developing knowledge and understanding of key legislation
  • Establish knowledge and understanding of the organisation’s work and daily operations

The successful candidate will have at least one years’ paid experience within a legal role. Early legal qualifications such as the LPC, SQE or Vocational Bar course and/or a background in public law, litigation, judicial review or regulatory law is desirable but not essential, so long as the candidate is able to demonstrate an interest in working in the public sector along with excellent legal research and communication skills.

Our client operates a hybrid working business model and the successful candidate will be expected to attend the office in the South West or London at least twice per week.

An annual salary of between £36,430 - £38,294 is offered dependent on experience, with an additional weighting allowance of £3,566 awarded if the successful applicant is London-based.
