Role OverviewAs the Director of Asset Management, you will play a pivotal role in managing and enhancing our extensive housing portfolio. You will provide strategic direction on asset management, maintenance, and investment, with a focus on optimising the long-term performance and sustainability of our assets. Your leadership will ensure that our homes meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and environmental responsibility, while also contributing to the growth and success of our housing services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of the asset management strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the maintenance, investment, and refurbishment of our housing portfolio, ensuring that properties are well-maintained, safe, and compliant with all statutory requirements.
  • Develop and implement effective plans for stock condition assessments, life cycle planning, and planned maintenance schedules.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of asset managers, project managers, and technical staff, ensuring high performance and professional development.
  • Drive the sustainability agenda, ensuring that asset management strategies align with our commitment to carbon reduction, energy efficiency, and environmental sustainability.
  • Manage relationships with external contractors, consultants, and suppliers, ensuring value for money and service excellence.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including housing, finance, and development, to ensure a seamless approach to asset management and investment.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial performance, providing regular updates to the executive team and board.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and industry best practices.
  • Lead on risk management, ensuring that the asset portfolio is resilient to emerging challenges, including climate change and regulatory changes.

About YouWe are looking for a strategic, results-driven leader with a strong background in asset management, ideally within the social housing sector. You will have a proven track record of managing complex portfolios, developing and implementing asset management strategies, and delivering improvements in both the quality of housing and operational efficiency.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Significant experience in asset management, ideally in the social housing or property management sector.
  • Strong understanding of housing regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices.
  • Experience of managing large, multi-disciplinary teams and developing talent.
  • Excellent financial and commercial acumen, with a proven ability to manage budgets and drive cost efficiency.
  • Knowledge of sustainability practices and their application in asset management.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in property management, construction, or a related field (MRICS or similar professional accreditation desirable).
