Legal Services Manager and DPO – Information Governance – Fully Remote Working

Venn Group is recruiting for an experienced Legal Services Manager – Information Governance on behalf of a Local Authority client. This is a 3-month contract with remote working arrangements, offering a competitive day rate.

Key Responsibilities: The appointed Legal Services Manager will oversee and manage complex legal matters across the council’s information governance . Key duties include:

  • Supervision of Legal Work: Undertake and supervise legal work in areas such as Governance, Data Protection/UK GDPR, Freedom of Information requests, member misconduct issues, and regulatory matters.
  • Data Protection Officer Duties: Act as the council’s Data Protection Officer, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead the Governance and Regulatory Services team, providing guidance, motivation, and direction to ensure quality service delivery.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain Lexcel accreditation, uphold SRA standards, and support the division’s Transformation Agenda.
  • Deputising for Senior Leadership: Act as deputy to the Assistant Director – Legal and Assurance when required.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Must be a Qualified Solicitor with proven expertise in handling complex legal matters in a Public Sector or Local Authority context.
  • Strong understanding of UK GDPR, Freedom of Information legislation, and experience in managing a legal team.
