Job Title: Functional Skills TutorLocation: RemoteSalary: £35,000Holidays: 25 days + bank holidays + your birthday offAbout the RoleJoin a thriving, Ofsted-rated "Good" training provider as a Functional Skills Tutor, supporting learners in achieving their English and Maths qualifications essential for their apprenticeships. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact, helping learners overcome barriers and succeed in their studies while contributing to the continuous improvement of training programmes.Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Functional Skills Tutor, you will:
  • Deliver high-quality training in Functional Skills (English and Maths) at Levels 1 and 2, using approved resources and digital platforms.
  • Provide personalised learning plans for learners requiring additional support, ensuring their success within the first 6 months of their apprenticeship.
  • Develop and deliver tailored workshops and group sessions to address learners' skill gaps.
  • Support test readiness through structured "Fast and Functional" Power Hours and "Accelerated" monthly sessions.
  • Collaborate with development coaches to assess progress, provide feedback, and set SMART targets for learners.
  • Contribute to the ongoing curriculum review, ensuring learning materials remain engaging and effective.
  • Track and monitor learner progress using e-portfolios, ensuring timely completion of programmes.
  • Provide coaching and development opportunities to apprenticeship delivery teams, enhancing their confidence in delivering Functional Skills content.
  • Promote Equality, Diversity, Safeguarding, and Health & Safety throughout all interactions with learners.
  • Actively participate in quality and compliance reviews, addressing feedback to maintain delivery standards.
Essential CriteriaTo thrive in this role, you’ll need:
  • A recognised Teaching Qualification and proven experience in delivering Functional Skills (English and Maths) at Levels 1 and 2.
  • Level 2 qualifications in Numeracy and Literacy.
  • Experience engaging with employers, ideally within a training or customer relations context.
  • A strong understanding of the Further Education, Apprenticeships, or similar educational sectors.
  • Proficiency in IT systems, including experience with e-portfolios and digital learning tools.
  • Exceptional communication and motivational skills to inspire learners and overcome barriers to learning.
  • A full driving licence, access to a vehicle, and a willingness to travel when required.
  • A reliable internet connection for remote delivery.

  • An Assessor Qualification (e.g., TAQA, CAVA, or equivalent).
