Transport & Compliance Officer

MM Search are working exclusively retained with William Thompson & Son on an exciting Transport & Compliance Officer opportunity, based in Dumbarton. The role holder will report to the Logistics Manager and be focused on promoting and maintaining a positive safety culture, compliance against regulatory and legislative matters, and the provision and maintenance of the transport and quality management systems.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the logistics manager with fleet management, such as driver licensing checks, managing drivers' hours, and issuing infringements.
  • Assist with the management of fleet repairs and maintenance, including defect rectification, breakdowns, and spare parts, ensuring all the supporting paperwork is in place.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory laws, EU driver's hours rules, road transport regulations, Health & Safety legislation and other company policies.
  • Investigating and reporting accidents or incidents and taking corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Providing training to drivers and other staff on safety procedures and compliance requirements via regular toolbox talks.
  • Control the company training matrix and liaise with third party training providers where required to ensure all training requirements are met.
  • Assist the management team in the completion of disciplinaries and other HR related matters. 
  • Aid in the maintenance of ISO 9001, 14001 and BSI systems
  • Control COSHH and Loler registers.
  • Manage document control and legal register.
  • Manage supplier audit program, conduct supplier audits in conjunction with the management team, and report findings.
  • To communicate and liaise with other departments to ensure a smooth & effective operation.
  • Answering calls and dealing with customer enquiries.
  • Providing cover for the transport coordinator involving routing the vehicles to optimise fleet efficiency, managing drivers and liaising with customers.
  • General administration duties in line with transport legislation, company policies and procedures.

Skills:
