Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to oversee the mechanical aspects of a school construction project. The ideal candidate must have commercial construction experience and a strong background in HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems. The role requires ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and compliance with project specifications and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the installation, maintenance, and commissioning of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and ventilation.
- Ensure work is carried out according to drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
- Monitor contractors, subcontractors, and mechanical personnel to ensure efficient project execution.
- Conduct quality control inspections and ensure compliance with health & safety regulations.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and site teams to ensure project timelines and budgets are met.
- Identify and resolve mechanical issues that arise during the project.
- Maintain accurate site records, reports, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, permits, and environmental regulations.
- Lead toolbox talks and safety briefings related to mechanical systems.
- Liaise with suppliers and procurement teams to ensure the availability of materials and equipment.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Supervisor on commercial construction projects (school projects preferred).
- Relevant mechanical qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC, or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services).
- SMSTS/SSSTS certification (preferred).
- CSCS card (mandatory).
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, ventilation, and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations and risk assessments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving and leadership skills.
- Strong communication and coordination skills to work effectively with subcontractors, engineers, and site teams.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with BMS (Building Management Systems).
- Knowledge of sustainable and energy-efficient mechanical solutions.
- Familiarity with school construction regulations and standards.
- First Aid Certification.
