Being part of Technical Directorate and working on a day-to-day basis on site with Construction Team, the JDO is response of site-based queries during construction, installation, and commissioning, and facilitate closure of post-handover open points [PHOP] arising from site and by exception only PHOP's originating upstream of handover to site or subsequent design NCR. JDO-Li is also responsible for the treatment of Nuclear Safety Category 3 and 4 site queries as part of the Intelligent Customer role under a Technical Delegation of Authority given from the Design Authority.
The JDO is also responsible managing design changes as well as managing design configuration during construction, installation and commissioning, responsible for the management of the non-permanent design, temporary works and As-Built information.
Framework & Boundaries
Day-to-day whilst working in the wider organisation:
* You will be responsible for management or delivery of technical solutions to emergent transverse works issues. The issues will mainly be Mechanical and Electrical engineering topics across several disciplines including Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC and Civil engineering. The current site activities are predominantly Civil focussed with a transition into Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC focussed issues with greater safety case implications as the project progresses.
* Building relationships across JDO Operational Branch, Responsible Designer, Project Managers, Contract Managers and the Construction/Installation Contractors.
* Interfacing with Nuclear Services Engineering or HPC Design Authority, where necessary.
* Identifying and implementing initiatives to improve project delivery.
* Participation in Configuration Management Board meetings.
* Contributing to the reporting of JDO KPIs.
Principal Accountabilities
As a Technical Resolution Lead reporting into the Mechanical Technical Manager you will:
* Be an organised, motivated individual able to communicate with a variety of stakeholders.
* Oversight and approval of Nuclear Safety Category 3 changes.
* Lead joint Task Forces for Nuclear Safety Category 2 changes.
* Be proactive in chasing delivery and performance of others.
* Attend and contribute to meetings when required.
* Mentorship of the JDO Operational team where opportunities allow.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Knowledge & Skills
Essential
You will have good communication and presentation skills, being able to liaise with a variety of stakeholders across the wider business at various management levels from mid management up to director level.
You will need to:
* Be resilient, adaptable and have a willingness to learn and develop.
* Understand an individual level of knowledge and where to receive guidance.
* Be able to work and act autonomously.
* Be pragmatic and practical in your approach to developing solutions.
* Be able to demonstrate an ability to resolve straightforward issues of low complexity/risk in own technical discipline/area autonomously.
* Be a competent user of Microsoft software.
A degree in engineering and chartership of a relevant body is desirable. No specific engineering disciple is necessary.
Some design experience or other project experience is desirable but not essential.
Desirable
* Some design experience or other project experience is desirable but not essential.
* EPR building, plant and system knowledge is desirable.
* Safety Case Knowledge and previous experience of Nuclear Safety Categorisations is desirable.
* Experience of leading engineers in a management or lead setting.

* Demonstrable evidence of problem solving and stakeholder management
* Understanding of mechanical interfaces

* Chartered Engineer or member of similar institute
* Previous experience working in the Nuclear Industry
