We are looking for a Design engineer to support our customer directly on site within their design engineering team.

This is a permanent role based at Torness power station. It will be based on site 5 days per week.
You will work to deliver innovative and practical design solutions that support small to large-scale engineering projects. Delivery of high-quality design work, focusing on mechanical components, piping layouts, P&IDs, electrical diagrams, civil, manufacturing drawings, and detailed 3D models. You will be interfacing with mechanical, process, electrical and civil engineering teams. The role will be working within a team of designers to ensure consistency of high-quality outputs to clients with a "right first time" approach. This role involves managing multiple design tasks and ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with relevant codes and standards. This role will be based at Torness Power station with an onsite presence required. Additional days for team collaboration and at client/supplier sites for projects as required. Knowledge of safety case and engineering change process would be required where on site training will support you through the specific client processes.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting and managing a design process including authoring safety case amendments.


Qualification to HNC/HND standard in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience).
Extensive experience in a regulated industry, particularly in design for assembly and manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of electrical diagrams and schematics
Knowledge of civil structures
Knowledge of safety cases
Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and understanding of technical design standards.
Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
