SRG are delighted to be working with an exciting contract research & testing company based in the North of Scotland who are looking for a commercial director to join and lead their sales & marketing teams. This role sits within the company's board of directors and reports directly into the MD, within the organisation there is great scope to develop your career.

The Role

As Commercial Director you will be responsible for people management and setting strategic goals and directions. You will work closely with the company's board and MD to achieve commercial goals on a global scale. You will have 7 direct reports, a mix of business development managers & marketing managers, as well as interacting with various technical & operations professionals. This role is based in either Aberdeen or Dundee and involves a degree of travel across the UK and internationally to ensure successful delivery, this travel is infrequent and as and when required.

The Right Candidate

Essentials;

  • Demonstrable prior success in a commercial role in a scientific environment - selling a scientific service or product
  • Background in science is essential - educated in life science/chemistry/environmental science/agriculture/soil science
  • Excellent communicator with experience giving presentations to key stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Experience using a CRM system (HubSpot desirable)
  • Previous people management experience
  • Ability to understand, interpret & communicate financial documentation
  • Able to work on-site in Dundee/Aberdeen

Desirables;

  • Recognised business qualification
  • Experience in the agriculture/environmental/soil science industry
  • Demonstrable experience of working successfully with overseas customers
  • Good understanding of IP & patent applications - Plant Variety Rights ideally

Whilst this role does operate on a hybrid basis, you will be full time on-site for the first 3 months in either Aberdeen or Dundee & will be hybrid thereafter (3 days per week)
