REED Engineering are currently working with a fantastic company based in Great Dunmow who specialise in the Hire and Sale of Acoustic, Vibration & Dust measurement Instrumentation and pride themselves on the high quality of their products and the service they provide.Due to year-on-year growth they are currently looking for a skilled individual to join their engineering team as a Service & Calibration Technician. The successful candidate is not expected to come from a direct background, however, will have a fault-finding mentality, and will be experienced in the service and repair of electronics products with the ability to fault find to component level.

Role Objectives:To provide a calibration service that meets the expectations of the client and the company’s quality management system. To carry out calibration of customer and company measurement equipment and the servicing / repairs of equipment sold by the company.

Competence Requirements:

  • Engineers should have a basic understanding in the following areas, but training will be provided to supplement areas that require development. Training is mainly provided “on the job” but external training courses will be provided where necessary.
  • Basic understanding of electronic circuits and electronic components.
  • Experience of fault finding and repair of electronic equipment to component level
  • Experience in using test and measurement equipment.
  • Basic understanding of calibration principles.
  • Basic understanding of Acoustics, Vibration and Dust measurement principles.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office software (Word, Access & Excel)
  • Basic understanding of Quality Management Systems.
  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Undertake technical contract review of calibration and service requests.
  • Undertake the calibration of measurement equipment in accordance with the Company’s calibration procedures and, where appropriate, the Company’s UKAS accredited procedures. Undertake the repair and servicing of measurement equipment.
  • Maintenance of customer equipment calibration data and records
  • Care and protection of customer equipment during calibration process
  • Maintain client confidentiality in all aspects of the calibration / repair / service processes.
  • Performance of system verification checks
  • Hardware and Software support for customers

Additional Information / Benefits:

  • Salary up to £31,000, dependent on experience
  • Annual pay reviews and discretionary bonus’
  • Monday to Friday, 09:00am – 17:00pm (37.5 hours per week)
  • Weekend overtime is occasionally available; however this is not a requirement
  • 23 days holiday + bank holidays (additional pay per year of service, up to 26 days)
