Our client is a growing, ambitious accountancy & tax practice based in Central Bedfordshire working with clients locally and across England, from individuals to multi million pound companies.
Established in 2017, their goal is to serve their clients as best they can, with a modern approach to accountancy and tax, providing a personal and friendly service interlaced with technology.
They are currently a team of 7, and we are looking to add an Accountant/Client Manager to their friendly and knowledgeable staff.
The Role
The role is seeking an experienced accountant looking for a step up and to help the firm mutually grow. This is a key role, with responsibility not only to look after several clients and key weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual deliverables, but to also support some junior staff. The successful applicant will be reporting to the Managing Director, and will have direct contact with clients.
The successful applicant will be involved more specifically in the production of annual accounts and corporation tax returns, VAT returns, Payroll and Construction Industry Scheme returns, overseeing bookkeeping to the best standard and educating clients on ensuring a smooth bookkeeping process, and helping to manage and resolve client queries.
This role would suit someone looking for a flexible accommodating office role, either during school hours, or for a few days a week.
The Candidate
Ideally, youll be qualified through a recognised accountancy qualification, either at least L4 AAT qualified, working towards a Chartered accountancy qualification, or Chartered (ACCA, ACA, ICAS, CIMA).
Youll be able to work independently, be able to manage priorities and timelines and be able to train and support the development of junior staff and assist in their development.
Being able to speak confidently and professionally, but with a friendly manner to clients is essential.
Experience in practice is essential, so you can hit the ground running.
Youll have a good knowledge of software and modern accountancy practices, for example cloud-based accounting software packages, but also feel confident suggesting ways to improve things.
Essential experience:
Production of Year End accounts and Corporation Tax Returns
Experience with accounting and tax production software.
Experience working within practice.
Preparation of working papers and reconciliations.
Preparation, review and filing of VAT returns/
Understanding of accounting for and filing for the Construction Industry Scheme.
Ability to manage deadlines and multiple workloads and prioritise.
Proficient in Excel
Desirable experience:
Management accounts production.
Self-assessment and income tax.
Team management experience.
Payroll.
Working knowledge of Xero, QuickBooks Online.
Working knowledge of accounts and tax preparation software.
Bookkeeping experience.
Terms
The role is available on a part-time or full-time basis, with a minimum of 20 hours required, and salary dependent on experience.
A salary of between £40K and £50k fte is available depending on experience.
This role is office-based in Dunstable, with the ability for flexible working for emergencies or appointments.
The role is predominantly office-based to facilitate the training of junior staff.
Referral bonuses are paid to staff of 20% of first year revenue. A laptop is provided.
Further training is available for specific candidates along with CPD.
