Deputy Manager Required for our Ofsted Regulated Home in Dunstable supporting 8-18s with EBD and challenging behaviour.£32-£35k

Job Title Deputy Manager

Location - Dunstable

Experience - Min of 2yrs in previous role as SSW or DM in a EBD Home.

Qualification - Min level 3 diploma in Children & Young People and working towards level 5.

Shift Pattern - We require flexibility from potential candidates as in Days, Night(Wake or sleep in), weekend and bank holidays. Generally 0900-1700 working every other weekend

Salary: Competitive - annual salary £32k-£35k plus occasional sleeps

  • The focus of our service delivery is to help and support our clients to develop their independent living skills whilst in transition towards adulthood and being able to manage their own tenancy in the community effectively.
  • We are obliged to ensure its policies and procedures are aimed at safeguarding the service users.
  • Our 3 bed Ofsted regulated home supports 2/3 children and is Ofsted rated Good.

Deputy Manager role

  • To deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager. To support and manage the staff to enable them to meet the needs of the children and young people. To undertake direct work with children and young people as appropriate. To be the responsible person in managing child protection concerns and complaints. To work in partnership with other professionals to achieve optimum outcomes for young people. To offer supervision and support to other staff in line with Quality Standards.

The Deputy Manager is responsible for promoting equal opportunities for all and for challenging any behaviour or practice which discriminates against any young person or colleague on the grounds of race, religion, disability, age, gender, sexual orientation or any other perceived difference.
  • To lead and manage the Children Homes consistent with the approach and therapeutic ethos of the home, delivering high quality care and outcomes for children placed in them
  • To ensure that the homes Statement of Purpose is adhered to throughout all working practice
  • To achieve 'Good' with the aspirational focus to achieve an 'Outstanding' Service under Children's Home Regulations and Ofsted Regulatory framework

Essential Qualifications And Experience required for Deputy Manager

  • Diploma L3 Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Willingness to complete Diploma L5 L&M in H&SC
  • Previous experience as a supervisor in a Residential Children's Care Setting
  • Working with children, young people, and their families
  • 24 months experience of working in a residential setting with and managing challenging behaviour
  • Work in a residential setting
  • Ability to manage teams effectively
  • Ability to motivate and enthuse staff
