As Commercial Counsel you will be a qualified Lawyer / Solicitor. You will be required to draft, negotiate and interpret a broad range of commercial agreements, advise on contentious and non-contentious matters for the business, assist in managing its IP portfolio, assist the General Counsel in ensuring compliance (for example Code of Conduct and Advertising Standards Agency work) and effectively managing external law firms. You will be working on matters sometimes covering different legal jurisdictions and collaborating with people at different levels within the business. You will help manage trainees in the business and support them up to qualification

Your key stakeholders will include the Procurement and Supply Chain leadership team, Commercial team, Panel law firms, Legal Director, General Counsel, Executive Committee.

Key competencies:

  • Qualified Solicitor / Lawyer
  • At least 4 years PQE at a major commercial law firm or large PLC in-house department
  • At least a 2:1 from an established university
  • Strong track record of negotiating commercial deals
  • Experience of leading on drafting, interpreting and negotiating agreements
  • Experience of dealing with contentious and non-contentious matters
  • Working knowledge of ASA compliance and data protection issues
