Heavy Goods Vehicle Transport Planner
  • Annual Salary: Up to £36,000
  • Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
  • Location: Dunstable (reliable commute or plan to relocate before starting work required)
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, Day shift, 8-hour shift

We are looking for a dedicated Heavy Goods Vehicle Transport Planner to enhance the efficiency of our transport operations. You will manage a mixed fleet of Lorry Loaders (max 82t/m) for Rigid and Artics, serving the Civil Engineering, Construction, and Railway Industries.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Plan and coordinate the movement within our fleet, optimizing routes for timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Lead day-to-day transport operations, addressing dispatch debriefs, work in progress, and ensuring the safe delivery of goods across the UK.
  • Maintain customer SLAs and manage the day-to-day activities of drivers, including rota, holidays, and sickness management.
  • Monitor vehicle performance with a strong focus on health & safety and compliance.
  • Work with subcontractors to supplement our fleet and meet customer requirements.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and maintain effective communication at all levels.
  • Utilize Excel and cloud-based documents for transport management.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Previous experience as a Transport Planner for Heavy Goods.
  • Working knowledge of WTD, Road Transport regulations, and FORS.
  • Geographical knowledge of the UK road network and Health and Safety regulations.
  • CPC qualification is preferable but not essential.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure.
  • Proactive and problem-solving attitude with strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in transport management systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Full UK driving licence.

The role is predominantly within office hours from Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the business, the applicant will be expected to be contactable out of hours, including bank holidays and weekends.
