Primary School Family Support Worker - Dunstable - Luton, Bedfordshire

Are you an experienced Family Support Worker looking to make a real difference to the lives of families in the Dunstable area? Are you passionate about improving outcomes for parents and children? Tradewind are currently working closely with a Primary School who would love to hear from you!

About the role

As a Family Support Worker you will enjoy a varied but challenging role. You will be the first point of call for all parents of children attending the school, helping to answer general queries or concerns they may have. You will support parents of children with additional needs who are struggling at home. You will offer invaluable guidance and support to these parents to help them manage outside school.

You will play a key role in safeguarding the children within the school and will be responsible for monitoring and reporting quickly any concerns around the welfare of children or parents within the school community.

You will also be responsible for monitoring attendance and in co-ordination with the office team, make sure any repeat absence is followed up and parents are met with to discuss plans to improve attendance moving forward.

Your role will also be to ensure all paperwork relevant to your position is kept updated and completed within agreed deadlines.

About you

The successful candidate for this role will have an in depth understanding of safeguarding children within education and understand its importance within the wider context of the community.

You will be a patient and professional communicator who is capable of speaking with parents from a range of different backgrounds and be confident approaching difficult conversations.

You will be an understanding and sensitive person who parents are able to speak to in confidence with any concerns they are currently having.

Have a good knowledge of the different services available in the local area which you can signpost parents too for additional support

Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
