We are currently working with a leading company in the water utilities sector who are looking to recruit a Senior Civil Engineer to join their expanding team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering civil design solutions for water and wastewater projects, working within a multi-disciplinary team across the full project lifecycle.
The role will involve leading projects, managing work packages, and overseeing the civil design for both infrastructure and non-infrastructure works. You will be responsible for supervising junior engineers, ensuring designs meet all technical specifications, and helping deliver projects on time and within budget.
Key Details of the Role:
- Position: Senior Civil Engineer – Water Utilities
- Location: Hybrid, ideally based in or around Durham, with flexibility to work remotely or from other regional offices across the UK.
- Primary Focus: Supporting an expanding framework with Northumbrian Water Group, with opportunities to work on a variety of projects across the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, from feasibility through to detailed design and commissioning.
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Produce and review design concepts, calculations, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of project budgets and resource management.
- Prepare feasibility studies, technical assessments, and other written reports.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and all relevant regulations.
- Collaborate with the wider team to ensure project success.
The Ideal Candidate:
- A degree in civil engineering (or equivalent) with professional qualifications (preferred but not essential).
- Strong experience in the design of water and wastewater infrastructure, with both infrastructure and non-infrastructure project experience.
- Proficient in MS Office, and ideally familiar with engineering software such as AutoCAD.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise reports and interact with clients and team members.
- Proven ability to lead projects and manage budgets effectively.
- A client-focused approach with a commitment to health and safety and continuous improvement.
