Site Engineer - Durham

Provide technical support, accurate setting out, and efficient management on civil engineering projects. The role ensures projects are delivered safely, accurately, and in compliance with contract specifications and industry standards. The company is engaged in a variety of exciting civil engineering schemes, including high street public realm refurbishments, highways projects, bus station developments, large 278 schemes, port refurbishments, and bridge deck refurbishments. Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the accurate setting out and safe construction of works in line with contract documents and client requirements.
- Maintain technical compliance and ensure all site activities adhere to safety standards.
- Assume Site Manager responsibilities for short-term cover when required.
- Maintain and agree upon site records and as-built drawings with the client's representatives.
- Ensure full compliance with contractual requirements and company Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Provide accurate records and measurement details to support the Quantity Surveyor (QS) in preparing monthly valuations.
- Ensure all works comply with HSE legislation and best practices.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture, ensuring adherence to risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
- Lead by example in fostering safe working practices on-site.
- Support the implementation of HSEQ procedures and ensure site teams comply with daily and weekly reporting requirements.
- Assist in developing project programmes and updates, ensuring works are completed on time and within budget.
- Work collaboratively with the Project Planner to track progress, resources, and key deliverables.
- Monitor site activities and propose innovative solutions to improve efficiency.
- Provide accurate measurement records to support the commercial team in valuations, variations, and cost reporting.
- Assist in procurement scheduling, ensuring materials and subcontractor services align with project needs.
- Identify risks and opportunities, reporting them in monthly project updates.
- Maintain comprehensive site records to ensure full transparency and compliance.
- Ensure all required documentation is completed, including daily site diaries, progress reports, and technical queries.
- Support weekly internal and client progress meetings, providing updates on key project milestones.
- Ensure workmanship and materials meet contract specifications and industry standards.
- Support the Quality Assurance (QA) process, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, 14001, and 18001.
- Identify and rectify defective works in a timely manner.

Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Technical training certificates in relevant engineering disciplines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and industry-specific software.
- Experience with LSS/N4CE survey packages (desirable).
- Strong communication skills - able to liaise effectively with colleagues, clients, and subcontractors.
- Highly organized, with excellent time management and planning skills.
- Attention to detail, ensuring precision in all aspects of work.
- Professional behaviour, maintaining a high standard of conduct at all times.
- A problem-solver with a proactive and adaptable approach.
