Electrical Engineer - Renewable Energy Projects

Location: - Based in Durham, could commute from Newcastle Upon Tyne, Sunderland, Consett, Hartlepool, Sedgefield, Gateshead and surrounding with occasional visits to other offices

Basic Salary: £55K - £65K plus 10% bonus potential plus benefits

Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer passionate about the environment and working towards a net zero emission world? Join our team and contribute to achieving net-zero by developing, building, and operating renewable energy projects including onshore wind farms, solar parks, battery storage, and other flexible energy generation sites. Travel is to be expected.

Key Responsibilities:

Grid Optimisation: Support the Operations and Grid Director in optimising grid connections.

Feasibility Studies: Conduct site analysis and grid connection studies to determine project viability.

Technical Assessments: Provide grid input and assessments for business development.

Grid Connection Management:Manage multiple grid connection contracts, including payments, securities, and liabilities.

Efficiency Improvements:Analyse energy use and losses on operational assets for continuous improvement.

Tender Support:Assist with Independent Connection Provider (ICP) and electrical balance of plant tendering.

Regulatory Compliance:Ensure projects comply with UK regulations, standards, and safety protocols.

Technical Specifications:Develop specifications and requirements for electrical components and systems.

Training and Mentorship:Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.

The role is reporting directly to the Operations and Grid Director.Working with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical engineers, civil engineers, project managers, planners and environmental scientists.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent professional experience.

- Experience with HV/EHV systems.

- Passionate about decarbonisation, net zero, networks, and generation.
