Modelling Manager – Utilities – 1.5 Year contract

We are partnering with a ‘cradle to grave’ project delivery partner specialising in planning, commercial and project management. Due to continued growth in their utilities department, they are seeking a Modelling Manager to aid with their development in Northumbria.

Responsibilities

  • Designing Hydraulic Models: The modeller is responsible for creating accurate and efficient hydraulic models that simulate the behaviour of water and wastewater systems. This involves inputting system data (e.g., pipe sizes, flow rates, and pressure) into specialized software to generate simulations for various scenarios.
  • Analysing System Performance: The modeller analyses the performance of hydraulic systems under different conditions, such as varying flow rates or pressure levels, and identifies potential issues like bottlenecks or inefficiencies. They use simulation results to predict how the system will behave and optimize its operation.
  • Optimizing System Design: Based on the simulation results, the modeller may suggest changes or improvements to the design of the hydraulic system, such as resizing pipes, adding pumps, or adjusting valve settings to improve performance, efficiency, or resilience.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: The modeller is often tasked with identifying and solving issues within existing systems, such as inadequate pressure, leaks, or underperformance. They use hydraulic models to test solutions in a virtual environment before implementing them in the real-world system.
  • Maintaining and Updating Models: As the water and wastewater networks evolve or as new data becomes available, the modeller is responsible for regularly updating the models to ensure they reflect the current state of the system. This might involve incorporating changes in infrastructure, population growth, or new regulatory requirements.
