Principal Ecologist (Durham or Kent)

An interesting opportunity to join agrowing multi-disciplinary firm with UK-wide projects, offering flexible remote/hybrid working options.This position will suit an experienced Principal looking for a new challenge keen to work onsmall developments to Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments
  • Manage client relationships, projects, and ecological surveys
  • Lead a team
  • Ensure high-quality report reviews (PEAs, EIAs, Method Statements)
  • Oversee mitigation plans for protected species (e.g., bats, great crested newts)

Requirements:

  • Experience with ecological assessments (Habitat Regulations Assessment, ES Chapters, Ecological Impact Assessments and Preliminary Ecological Appraisals)
  • UK/EPSM licence as named ecologist (Class 2 Bat andGreat Crested Newt licence desirable)
  • Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills
  • CIEEM membership and proficiency in ArcGIS
