Location: Durham

Are you an experienced Town Planner ready to advance your career? We are seeking an Associate Town Planner to join a well-established and planning consultancy in Durham. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of exciting projects across the North East.

Role Overview:

As an Associate Town Planner, you will be responsible for delivering expert planning advice and managing complex projects from start to finish. You'll collaborate with a diverse range of clients, including developers, landowners, local authorities, and private individuals, providing guidance on planning applications, appeals, and strategic planning matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing and leading a diverse portfolio of planning projects, ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery.
  • Preparing and submitting comprehensive planning applications and appeals, including writing detailed planning statements.
  • Conducting site appraisals and providing strategic planning advice to clients.
  • Negotiating effectively with local authorities, statutory consultees, and community stakeholders to achieve favourable outcomes.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive work culture.
  • Keeping abreast of planning policy updates and ensuring all projects comply with relevant regulations.

Requirements:

  • MRTPI qualification with a proven track record in a planning consultancy or a similar role.
  • Strong experience in managing a variety of planning projects, from small-scale developments to larger, complex schemes.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to mentor and guide junior colleagues, promoting teamwork and professional development.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
