Job Opportunity: Maintenance Engineer (Electrical) – Durham, UK

Role Overview: As a Maintenance Engineer (Electrical), you will provide essential engineering and maintenance support within the operations team. Your key responsibilities will include carrying out preventative maintenance, electrical/mechanical fault diagnosis, and ensuring the efficient operation of plant equipment. This role also involves working within ISO9001, ISO13485, and ISO14001 standards and participating in an on-call rotation for out-of-hours support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain the Plant Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule.
- Conduct electrical and mechanical fault-finding, isolation, and repairs on equipment.
- Support plant improvements to enhance operational efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain plant critical spares inventory.
- Liaise with external contractors for maintenance and improvement projects.
- Use SAP to raise purchase requisitions as needed.
- Issue work permits and adhere to safe working systems.
- Participate in ongoing training to ensure best practices in maintenance activities.
Requirements:
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a plant electrician.
- Strong fault-finding skills on PLC control systems, Variable Speed Drives, Conveyor Systems, and Thermal processing equipment.
- City & Guilds 2382 (18th Edition Regulations) qualification.
- Experience working within a GMP facility is desirable.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel & Word).
- Previous experience in an on-call maintenance system is beneficial.

Salary
- Negotiable dependent upon experience
- Pension - 4% employee/ 8% employer
- 4 x annual salary death in service
Hours of work will be Monday – Friday on rotating shifts (7am-3pm/ 3pm-11pm). There will also be a requirement for being on call periodically on a rota with the rest of the team which gives up to £180 a week for being on call and pays 4 hours overtime if you need to attend site.
