Lemon Drizzle recruitment has been appointed to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a specialist subcontractor based in Durham.

An introduction to the Company and what it’s like to work for them

This is a well-established specialist subcontractor who work on contracts across the UK. They are based in Durham and have a relaxed and casual culture. Flexibility is a key part of the company culture, and the team can choose where to work to fit around their out of work commitments. 

What you’ll be doing and be responsible for

As part of the Commercial Department, the key responsibilities of the Senior Quantity Surveyor are to oversee and lead the commercial team. The ideal person will enjoy being hands on, getting out to site and be proactive with dealing with issues as they arise. Contracts are fast paced and fall under JCT & NEC, spanning across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expectation to manage multiple projects of varying sizes and complexities
  • Ensure that clear and accurate budgets are produced
  • Procurement of works to meet and exceed programme
  • Management of client accounts
  • Weekly review and analysis of programme, progress and cost monitoring
  • Change control management.
  • Risk & opportunity management
  • Financial monitoring and reporting and liaising with the Operations team
  • Development and Agreement of Project Forecasts with Operational team
  • Detailed commercial analysis of various outputs
  • Commercial support on tenders
  • Submission of monthly application for payments

Who is this role ideal for?

This opportunity would suit an experienced QS/SQS from a subcontracting or main contracting background. We are looking for someone with ambition, a strong leader and someone who wants to get stuck in and be proactive.

  • Degree or HND in Quantity Surveying / Construction Cost Management or similar cost management related qualification
  • 5+ years’ experience in similar role
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • General IT knowledge (project file management, email management, cloud software etc)
  • Full UK driving licence
