The School and Role 

This ‘Outstanding’ SEND school, based in Sunderland are looking to appoint a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support learners across their secondary department. 

Working as part of an established team, the desired SEN Teaching Assistant will be working with learners who have special educational needs. You will assist the class teacher with supporting teaching and learning, leading small group and on a 1:1 basis. 

The school aims to be passionate about delivering the highest standards of teaching, whilst meeting the needs of the pupils within an accepting, positive and welcoming learning environment. The diverse curriculum allows pupils to pursue both academic and vocational paths allowing individuals to grow and achieve. 

Requirements 

The desired SEN Teaching Assistant will have:

  • Experience of working with primary or secondary school aged children. 
  • Experience of working with pupils with SEND. 
  • A passion for the progress of all SEND pupils. 
  • An ability to work as part of a team. 
  • An ability to work in a fast-paced environment with pupils with emotional and behavioural needs.
