This is an exciting new role with one of our key Rail clients based in Somerset.

Our client is a renowned industry leader that invest heavily in competency and training, and they are looking for individuals like you to join their team.

As a Fitter, your background in heavy engineering makes you an ideal candidate to maintain, service, fault find, and repair our clients locomotives.

While this role is in the rail industry, your expertise with large diesel engines and mechanical systems positions you for success in this transition.

Key Responsibilities:
Use your skills in maintaining, servicing, fault-finding, and repairing locomotives.
Ensure the Asset Management system and relevant paperwork are completed on time.
Apply your knowledge of tooling and equipment checks.
Make use of your experience with examinations and repairs to meet company standards.
Participate in relevant training and competency assessments.
Contribute to safety, quality, and technical briefings as required.
Maintain workshop areas and uphold high standards of workshop husbandry.
Top up fuel and sand levels of the locomotive at the end of the day.

Qualifications / Experience
Engineering qualification NVQ Level 3 or above
Experience of working on large Diesel engines
The ability to make sound engineering decisions.
Basic communication skills, written and oral.
