We are very pleased to be partnered with our educational based client as they seek to recruit a full time and permanent Maintenance Supervisor to join their team within their site in the East Grinstead area. This is a superb opportunity to work within a small team and line manage but also to work in a 'hands on' manner.

The role is based upon the hours of Mon Fri 0800-1600 - all year round

Maintenance Supervisor

Full time permanent role

Monday - Friday 0800-1600 full time

Role based on the outskirts of East Grinstead. Due to rural and unique workplace location, it is essential to be a driver and have your own transport. Plenty of free parking on site for all staff.

Salary £40000-£42000 per year plus very good all round company benefits, including 25 days paid holiday per year plus bank holidays. This role is subject to DBS clearance.

Purpose of the role:

To supervise maintenance of the school premises, including the grounds, to the highest standard and in compliance with all health and safety regulations for the safe enjoyment of pupils, staff and visitors.

Duties will include:

GENERAL

Assist management to implement the recommendations of all inspection reports including the fire risk assessment, the five year fixed wire testing report, the asbestos monitoring report and the water risk assessment

Arrange and manage contractors for all required inspection reports

Ensure the school’s asbestos management plan is actioned and reviewed regularly.

Carry out minor repairs within the school site

Respond to any out of hours emergency calls.

Manage all contractors whilst on site.

MAINTENANCE PLANNING

Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules.

Regular inspection of facilities to identify faults and repairs.

Accurate recording of inspections, findings and actions.

Regular follow up on results of audits and inspections

Respond to maintenance requests, prioritise repairs and ensure timely completion of works.

Keep accurate records of outstanding and completed maintenance tasks.

INVENTORY MANAGEMENT

Ensure suitable levels of maintenance supplies and equipment are available.

Ensure systems are in place to keep all maintenance equipment in good order

STAFF MANAGEMENT

Supervise the maintenance team and assign tasks

Monitor performance of the team and provide training if and when necessary

Assist the Finance and Facilities manager with the recruitment of staff for the team.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Consult with the school’s Health and Safety advisors to ensure health and safety compliance.

Ensure all the relevant information and documents are received from contractors and comply to the relevant health and safety regulations before any work commences.

To promote high standards of health & safety in the workplace, ensuring that the School’s Health & Safety Policy and procedures are followed.

Facilitate implementation of the company health & safety strategy.

Competencies, knowledge and skills required

Experience of managing a small team

Good computer skills

Relevant experience in electrical, plumbing, carpentry and painting / decorating

Due to workplace location, you must be a driver (full UK licence) and have your own vehicle.
