We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a team, providing support to children and young people with emotional, behavioural, social, and communication difficulties. The role requires a proactive individual who can work closely with teachers to enhance the learning environment and ensure the welfare of students.

Day to day of the role:
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons.
  • Work closely with designated children, following the teacher’s guidance on work and play activities.
  • Provide general support for behaviour management and assist the teacher with classroom tasks.
  • Accompany students who leave the classroom and monitor students outside of class times.
  • Familiarise with all school policies, rules, health & safety, and legal requirements and work in accordance with them.
  • Assist with lesson preparation and paperwork upkeep.
  • Be available to transport students to off-site activities, using the school van or own car if necessary.
  • Support a positive working culture, high-quality teaching and learning, and the development and implementation of change.
  • Promote excellent behaviour for learning and caring, respectful relationships.
  • Undertake professional development and appraisal, enforce classroom expectations, and ensure the school’s policies are implemented.
Requirements and Expectations:
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or working towards it.
  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • Current driving licence.
  • Experience working with children or young people with emotional, behavioural, or social communication difficulties.
  • Previous teaching assistant or teaching experience.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues in a supportive manner.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Understanding the needs of children and young people with emotional, behavioural, social, and communication difficulties.
Personal Competencies and Qualities:
  • Motivation to work with children and young people.
  • Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people.
  • Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours.
