Deputy Service Coordinator

Salary: £27.5k per annum Location: East GrinsteadJob Type: Full-time 37.5 hours p/w 

Fixed Term Contact (6 months) 

We are seeking a dynamic Deputy Service Coordinator to support a local hospitals Service Coordinators in providing strong operational management and leadership. This role is crucial for developing and managing high-quality, responsive, and efficient services in alignment with our Business Unit and Trust Strategic direction.

As a Deputy Service Coordinator, you will:

  • Assist with the operational management of the Plastic Surgery specialty, including administrative and medical staff.
  • Work autonomously to manage administrative tasks and implement non-clinical management arrangements.
  • Liaise closely with consultants to encourage team coordination and strategic planning.
  • Manage staff and financial resources to help deliver local and national performance targets, including Patient Access targets.
  • Organise and implement waiting list initiatives in accordance with Patient Access guidelines.
  • Implement a thorough training programme for all new staff and ensure continuous professional development.
  • Monitor and order stationery supplies within the department.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Significant experience at an administrative level within a healthcare environment, preferably in an acute hospital.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare administrative processes.
  • Proficient in IT systems including PAS/CWS and Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage relationships both internally and externally.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Supervisory experience and the ability to lead and motivate a team.
