Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are working in partnership with a fantastic SEN school in Hassocks to recruit a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their team!

About the Role:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a range of SEND, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, Speech and Language Difficulties, and other complex learning needs. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to create an inclusive, engaging, and nurturing learning environment where every student can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with additional learning needs.
  • Assist in implementing tailored learning strategies to support individual progress.
  • Help students develop confidence, independence, and key life skills
  • Support students with communication and sensory needs, using strategies such as PECS, Makaton, and visual aids.
  • Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to deliver the best possible outcomes

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND (in a school or specialist setting).
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • An understanding of SEND strategies, including behavior management and communication support.
  • A willingness to undertake training and development opportunities.

Desirable:

  • Additional training in SEND, Autism, Speech and Language, or Mental Health
  • .Experience working with EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans).
  • Knowledge of de-escalation techniques (e.g., Team Teach, MAPA).
