We're seeking a compassionate and skilled individual to join our vibrant School as Special Needs Teaching Assistant.

Educational Background of a Special Needs Teaching Assistant:

  • A College Diploma or equivalent.
  • A degree in education, special education, child development, or a related field.

Special Needs Teaching Assistant Experience:

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs.
  • Prior experience in an educational setting can be advantageous.

Skills of a Special Needs Teaching Assistant:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and understanding.
  • Ability to handle challenging behaviours and situations calmly.
  • Knowledge of various disabilities and special needs.
  • Basic knowledge of instructional strategies and behavioural management techniques.

Special Needs Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs).
  • Support the teacher in delivering lesson plans tailored to student's needs.
  • Supervise students in the classroom, lunch, and other activities.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
  • Implement behavioural management plans as directed by the teacher or specialist.
  • Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours.
  • Encourage positive social interactions and appropriate behaviour.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers and other staff members.
  • Provide feedback on student's progress and any concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records of student activities and progress.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • Stay informed about best practices in special education and relevant legislation.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff.
