We are currently recruiting for the 2025 Graduate Scheme and are interested in hearing from a range of Graduates looking to progress their career in the Maritime Defence industry.
As a Graduate Safety Engineer, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support the design, development, and integration of advanced naval systems. This position is ideal for graduates seeking to develop their technical and problem-solving skills in a challenging and rewarding environment.
You will be given guidance and mentoring to develop your skills in supporting a range of tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the risk to life and safe operation of AEUK systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety legislation and standards.
- Conduct necessary assessment of a system to identify hazards and quantity associated risks.
- Identify proportionate controls to reduce the risk to acceptable levels.
- Demonstrate system design is as safe as reasonably practicable.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement to ensure consensus on safety is achieved.
- Support the verification and validation that controls are suitably implemented.
- Produce and maintain technical document sets, providing robust evidence the system is safe to operate.
- Support investigations into in-service failures as they occur.
Qualifications Required
- Educated to degree or equivalent level in an engineering, or related discipline.
Knowledge You will Develop
- Fundamentals of Engineering: Understanding of safety engineering principles and practices, including hazard identification, risk management and interrelationship between different engineering functions.
- Domain Knowledge: Awareness of the maritime defence industry, such as sonar, weapons, or naval systems, is advantageous.
- Tools and Techniques: Familiarity with systems modelling tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, Enterprise Architect) and requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, Jama) is a plus.
- Coding Basics: Awareness of programming languages (e.g., Python, C++) and simulation environments is beneficial.
