Trainee CNC Operator

£26,000 - £35,000 dependant on experience

We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee CNC Operator to join our clients fine outdoor furniture company. Our client is a leader in their field and are highly respected in the community of garden enthusiasts and professionals across the luxury goods and services market. As a CNC operator/setter/programmer you will form a key part of the production flow, manufacturing high quality, low batch components on one of our suite of CNC machines. As a vital cog in the production process, you will communicate clearly the status of current jobs and any issues encountered that may impact them.

As a trainee, any level of experience will be considered, you may not of operated a CNC machine before, but have a keen interest in programming, or engineering, or you may have worked in a production/assembly environment, but most importantly you need to be motivated and have a proactive attitude.

Main duties:

  • Load and operate a 6 axis CNC machine, making complex components from wood blanks.
  • To work closely with the CNC coach to edit/develop CNC programs and conceive of process improvements
  • To autonomously set the machines up to run different programs.
  • Ensure components consistently meet our high-quality standards.
  • Help the team to meet weekly production targets.

Skills and experience:

  • As a trainee CNC operator, direct relevant experience for the role is not a prerequisite, however:
  • Previous CNC experience is advantageous
  • Previous experience working with wood is advantageous
  • Previous experience using machine tools is advantageous
  • Previous experience using CAD/CAM software is advantageous
  • A good level of computer literacy is advantageous

Useful experience / skills include:

  • Keen attention to detail
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Good maths skills
  • The ability to highlight areas for potential process improvements and communicate these ideas clearly to the team
  • A motivated, proactive attitude
