SALARY: £46,000 FTE /£25,300 Actual Salary per annum (based on 22.14 hours per week) + Benefits

JOB TYPE: Part-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 22.14 hours per week, worked over 5 days, to include 1 day at the weekend each week, alternating between Saturday and Sunday

There is a requirement to work some evening and regular weekends and to be on-call as part of an agreed rota for which an appropriate payment will be made

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Service Managerwith a comprehensive understanding of multiple compound needs (MCN), working knowledge of domestic abuse and good team development and coaching experience.

As the Service Manager you will be accountable for the strategic oversite, performance and operational management of the Multiple Compound Needs (MCN) service, providing holistic community and residential services and support to survivors of domestic abuse.

Working as the Service Manager you will promote the work undertaken and ensure that the survivors are supported appropriately in accordance with legislation, policy guidelines and best practice in respect of risk management, public protection, survivor safety, housing support and broader rehabilitation.

Delivery includes a range of programmes, groups and key work sessions within the premises and the community, as well as outreach and follow-on support from point of survivor exit from the residential element of the service, in the community and prison.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Service Manager include:

  • Day to day running of the MCN service (including the premises), ensuring appropriate use of resources, people and funds
  • Managing the bed spaces within the accommodation, from referral criteria, process and application to compliance within the premises, ensuring residents behave in pro-social way, potentially managing evictions if necessary
  • Responsible for embedding a supportive, enabling environment for residents, through interaction with senior management, partner agencies, survivors, stakeholders
  • Manage the premises in accordance with DAHA accreditation standards
  • Engage in key strategic stakeholder forums to actively seek and identify opportunities for new innovations to provide additional services for survivors engaged with the MCN service
  • Work collaboratively with existing stakeholders to provide services within the East Sussex area and at times, wider Sussex communities
  • Overall management of the processing of payments for the service including receipt of service charge from residents and processing Enhanced Housing benefit returns to the local authority to ensure payment
  • Providing leadership and guidance to staff
  • Take responsibility for the team’s compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures and enable individual team members to reflect on the quality of practice
  • Line management and recruitment of employees - to direct, supervise, support and manage the performance of all members of staff working within the premises
  • Take responsibility to develop staff and the team within a learning environment
  • Ensure standards are being met by countersigning, dip sampling and quality assuring the work of the team and others where needed
  • Manage and account for locally devolved budgets and provide statistical information as required
  • Represent and implement the organisation in a positive manner, including attendance at meetings with relevant stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with all stakeholders
  • Continued review and development of local policy and practice in relation to the service
  • As part of the management team, to participate in the development and implementation of local and service wide strategies and objectives
  • Undertake First Aid if a resident is injured or self-harms

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Comprehensive understanding of multiple compound needs
  • A good working knowledge of domestic abuse and in particular, survivor’s experience
  • A comprehensive understanding of the requirements of working in a residential environment
  • Experience of working in an environment with complex and challenging delivery needs
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of principles underpinning effective delivery of services that meets the needs of vulnerable and complex women
  • Clear understanding of equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice
  • Experience of coaching and team development
  • An understanding of risk management, safeguarding and public protection and its implication on practice, within a residential setting
  • First Aid Qualified or willing to undertake and maintain the qualification
  • An understanding of the benefits system, particularly relating to housing
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to multi-task, work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work flexibly across a 24/7, 365-day service
