Aspiring Psychologist

This role is ideal if you have career aspirations in behavioural neuroscience, clinical, counselling, developmental, educational, neuropsychology, physiological, school and, social psychology roles.

Are you keen to gain experience for children who have SEN, especially mental health issues?

We are looking for a dedicated Aspiring Psychologistto support children with moderate learning difficulties and, additional mental health needs. This school is based in Eastbourne for children aged 8-16 and has speciailised in SEMH to provide exceptional education and, provide extra help for traumatised children and, young people.

You will be helping children who have come from trauma/neglected backgrounds, challenging behaviour, ADHD or Autism and, also have developed mental health issues due to their needs and, require additional support with improving social, emotional and mental well-being.

Responsibilities of an Aspiring Psychologist:

  • Assist the class teacher in providing the learning experience of students.
  • Ability to perform conflict resolution and de-escalation.
  • Behaviour and pastoral support.
  • Take an active role in forward planning with therapists.
  • Practical approach to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Willing to work 1:1 and in small groups with students.
  • Ensure safeguarding of students, in line with procedures.
  • Attend staff meetings and complete appropriate CPD.

Requirements of an Aspiring Psychologist:

  • Impose patience and, understanding.
  • Have an understanding with challenging behaviour.
  • Always be adaptable in any give situation.
  • To be able to develop trusting and positive relationships with students.
  • A psychology degree is desirable but, not necessary.
