We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Individual Needs Assistant (INA) to join a primary school in Eastbourne. In this role, you will provide crucial support to students with specific learning needs, disabilities, or other challenges, helping them thrive academically and socially. You will work closely with these students to offer tailored assistance and create a supportive learning environment.

Your responsibilities will include implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), providing one-on-one or small group support, and adapting teaching methods to meet each student's needs. You will help students engage with the curriculum, manage their behaviour, and develop skills to fully participate in classroom activities. Collaborating with teachers, parents, and other professionals, you will contribute to a comprehensive support system that ensures every student can reach their full potential and integrate successfully into the school community.

As an Individual Needs Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting a specific child or small group, helping them to engage with the curriculum and develop confidence in their learning journey. Patience, creativity, and a passion for education are key, along with the ability to work well as part of a close-knit team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support for a pupil with additional needs
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO
  • Help the pupil access learning materials and develop social and communication skills
  • Offer encouragement and positive reinforcement to foster independent learning
