Assistant Shift Team Leader

Toro Recruitment is seeking an experienced Assistant Shift Team Leaderto join a leading biomass power generation facility in Scotland. This role is ideal for individuals with operational expertise in power plants, maintenance, or technical trades, including military backgrounds. The successful Assistant Shift Team Leader will be responsible for ensuring plant operations run safely and efficiently while maximising reliability and performance. Full training will be provided to support career progression.

Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Shift Team Leader:

  • Operate the plant safely and efficiently, ensuring compliance with environmental and operational standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections, operational testing, and data collection to maintain performance.
  • Perform first-line maintenance, troubleshooting, and defect resolution to optimise plant reliability.
  • Support fuel handling processes and coordinate plant cleaning activities to maintain site standards.
  • Maintain accurate shift logs and use the maintenance management system to document operations and repairs.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in power plant operations, production roles, or a similar technical environment (EfW, CHP, Biomass, Renewable Power Stations preferred).
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to operate and maintain machinery and equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of chemistry, including safe handling of chemicals.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • IT literacy for data entry and reporting purposes.
