We’re looking for an Assistant Accountant to join a prestigious law firm based near Eastleigh, offering a fantastic opportunity for hands-on experience across all finance functions. If you're analytical, eager to learn, and ready to be part of a dynamic team, this role could be the perfect next step in your career.Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for:
  • Assisting with month-end processes, including bank reconciliations, credit card expenses and balance sheet reconciliations
  • VAT returns and payment reconciliations
  • Maintaining management information spreadsheets, collaborating with internal teams to ensure accuracy
  • Posting accruals, prepayments and reallocating transactions
  • Supporting budgeting processes and liaising with budget holders for forecasting and discrepancy analysis
  • Profit and loss transactions
What you will need:
  • Previous experience in a similar role, such as Assistant Accountant / Accountant / Senior Accounts Assistant / Assistant Management Accountant / Finance Assistant
  • Experience with bank reconciliations, month-end processes and management accounts
  • A genuine interest in finance, eager to learn and develop your skills
  • A collaborative and initiative-based approach
  • Strong Excel skills, ideally including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables
  • Ability to think critically, investigate issues independently, and find solutions.
