Bid Writer - Civil Engineering / Plant Hire Sector
Location: Chandlers Ford, Hampshire (Hybrid Working Available)
Contract Type: Permanent | Full-time - 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 + Bonus & Benefits

We're proud to be recruiting on behalf of a highly respected, industry-leading provider of specialist rental solutions across the UK. As the business continues to grow and win major infrastructure projects, they're now looking to expand their Business Development team with an experienced and driven Bid Writer.
The Opportunity
This is a critical role supporting the tendering and proposal process for high-value civil engineering and infrastructure projects. Working closely with the Tender Manager and a range of subject matter experts, you'll take ownership of crafting persuasive responses to RFIs, PQQs, and ITTs-helping the company win strategically important contracts.
Key Responsibilities
Develop win strategies and produce engaging, tailored bid responses aligned with evaluation criteria.
Analyse tender documentation and drive bid planning and kick-off activities.
Write, edit, and proofread high-quality submissions with a focus on clarity, tone, and messaging.
Collaborate cross-functionally with departments including Operations, HR, Transport, and SHEQ to extract relevant information.
Conduct market and competitor research to enhance the strength of submissions.
Review feedback and continuously improve bid quality and effectiveness.
About You
Proven experience in bid writing within civil engineering, construction, plant hire, or utilities sectors.
Degree educated or equivalent-ideally in English, Journalism, Marketing, or a related writing discipline.
Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
Able to translate complex technical input into clear, persuasive content.
Comfortable working autonomously as well as collaboratively within a wider team.
Experience using procurement platforms such as Achilles, Ariba, or Jaggaer/Bravo.
Familiarity with AI writing tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT) to support bid development.
APMP qualification - desirable but not essential.
UK driving licence - preferred.
